The SOS service

Post by admin »

Some members of this forum have volunteered to participate in the SOS service to provide emergency support to u3as using WordPress sites that, for whatever reason, no longer have access to technical expertise to manage their site.

This service is not intended for websites hosted by the u3a SiteWorks project.
For all problems with sites in the u3asite.uk domain you should contact the SiteWorks Helpdesk

The service is not a commitment to provide long term support. Instead, we will:
  • Try to resolve any immediate issue you have encountered
  • Help you find/train a replacement support person if you need one
If you need help from the SOS service, please email sos@u3awebdev.org.uk with:
  • Your name and u3a
  • Your contact details
  • A brief description of what's happened
  • An indication of the urgency of your issue - particularly if your site is down
You should get one or more responses asking you for further information. That might include a request for site ids and passwords. If you are uncertain about the authenticity of the request, you can contact the sender's u3a through its web site and ask it to confirm their membership.

Please be aware the service is provided by volunteers. No-one is being paid for it. It's just a group of people that would like to try to help you out. It is not a formal offering from the Third Age Trust.

We normally ask new joiners to the forum if they want to volunteer to be part of the SOS service. If we missed you or if you've now decided you'd like to join the team, please let us know via the 'Contact us' link at the bottom of any page.
